| i recently adopted a four month old female kitten. her eyes seem to produce more goo/mucus than is normal. the goo collects and hardens and it is much more than anything produced by my other kitten. also, sometimes she closes her right eye halfway. i am going to take her to the vet, but wanted to know if anyone had any ideas as to why this may be. thanks. |

could be feline herpes http://www.veterinarypartner.com/Content.plx?P=A&A=1327
I have one cat that has that problem and I put L-lysine in her food daily. Takes awhile for it to work but it does help.
If your vet says feline herpes it can be a lifelong condition that flares under stress. The l-lysine does help but doesn't make it go away. |

no - it's not at all. It's not herpes like people get. It's a cat thing - like feline leukemia isn't like people leukemia.
Do a search on it and see if it sounds/looks like what your kitten has.
But don't worry it's not at all transmittable to people |
