My 14 year old Pixal has cancer of the jaw, first she was treated for a tooth infection however upon our recheck visit a week later the vet told me she has a tumor of the jaw. He put her on prednisone and told me she could live another 6 months. Its been 2 weeks now. Sad
She now is forever drooling this clear muscos plus wiping it all over herself when she trys to clean herself so I wash her. Sometimes there is blood around her jaw but I can't find anthing in her mouth bleeding or sore.
Is it possiable its her time ??? My heart is broken but one thing I don't want her in pain and anyway how do we know when a cat is in pain??
Has anyone gone thru this befor and if so can you help me with what I need to do.

I'm sorry about your cat. Sad I guess the cancer is not something that can easily be removed to heal your cat?

I had one cat growing up who ended up with cancer. I can't recall how long we had her after the diagnosis, but we did put her to sleep. She wouldn't move from her bed that we made and she just kept going down hill. We decided to put her to sleep because we felt it was more humane than her suffering a painful death.

Your decision on what to do is a personal one and only you can decide on what's right.

But, I can at least sympathize on your situation and I remember crying a great deal when we lost our cat. Cancer seems pretty typical in older animals.

I'm sorry you have to go through this. Just think of what your cat needs in the sense of how comfortable she is and what her quality of life will be until it's time for her to go. Maybe she still has some good time left?

have you done any research on a cat's outlook with cancer of the jaw? I've heard stories and none of them are positive - I'm sorry.
Like was mentioned you have to consider her quality of life - is she eating, is she playful, does she seem happy and painfree...these are the decisions only you can make.
Hugs to you and your kitty
