Hi everyone, Well as you all know my mums dog was confirmed pregnant by a scan, Vet syas 4-5 whelps her date of mating was the 24th january, Vet asked if she was sure and that is the only mating she had, the vet said its just the pups look small.

Anyway i asked a question on here about her not eating, Well i got that problem sorted now the problem is that her stomach is now soft, No movement from any pups cant feel anything in her stomach..
Even if she didnt concieve until a few days later there should still be some movement..

So if dates are correct there should be some movement also her stomach would not be soft.
What is the chance that she has aborted the litter or miscarried.
SHe has no discharge, Is well in herself she seeing the vet on monday i just wondered what you think..

I am just used to straight forward mating, pregnancy and whelping.
This has me really stumped

It could simply be a very small welp. My female was questionably prego till it was time for x-rays...can't remember how many weeks that is but it's well into the pregnancy...the x-ray confirmed and about a week or so later and only when she was laying down could I feel movement...couldn't see it...and up until that point even palpating wasn't a sure thing at all. We had four pups out of that litter.

I'd bet you have a small litter if any at all. It's possible that she wasn't actually pregnant. My friend had a female who tested prego in blood test but then no welps when they checked further down the road...

I have no idea about aborted welps but I do know that if they do that when they are very far along you could risk infection...but on Monday I bet all your worries will be put to rest and you have only a small ammount of pups.

If the pups died and were reabsorbed, I suppose that could account for her not wanting to eat. And if they died and she aborted them, that could also account for her not eating.

If you don't get any pups, I'd have her tested for brucellosis.

She is eating ok and seems well in herself, LIke i say if she sits and you feel her stomach its hard if she jumps up at you its hard yet when she lays on her side and is relaxed its all soft...

She is going for a scan monday morning just to make sure all is well..
