This story is encouraging in that the owners are now trying to get the weight off to dog but way before now they should have realized the dog was extremely obese.

I agree! That is totally gross! ASPCA should investigate Jake's owner for abuse!
But, I guess Jake's owners are the same kind of freaks that go on those daytime shock shows!
Poor Jake. As a hunting hound, he must really suffer with that weight. |

| Shame, shame on his grandparents for letting him get that big! But I can tell you from having two hounds, they do NOT have the mechanism that tells them that they are full. Add in those big, sad eyes and I can see how it can happen. Especially if the care-takers inherited him. |

| Oh my! that's terrible! We've had beagles come into the kennel I work at who tipped the scale at 35-40lbs, and I thought that was big! |
