year-round?
I ask cause when I took Molly in this spring for her heartworm testing vet mentioned to me that they now suggest a dog stay on this all year - prevents intestinal parasites as well as heartworm.
I hesitate though mostly because I don't see the point when there are no mosquitoes in NH winters. She didn't/doesn't have intestinal parasites nor do I anticipate her being in a situation where that would happen. The most common being tapeworm from fleas and no flea problem no tapeworms. She doesn't go to dog parks so there is no problem w/being exposed to fecal matter of other dogs.
What do you do? |

| I do it year round, but I also work at a kennel and don't want to accidently carry something home. Also, I use revolution, so it does fleas, ticks, heartworm, and mange, so I don't ever stop. I'm also in Texas, where it seems like there are mosquitos year round. |

| I usually stop 2-3 months December to February, because from what I read the heartworm larvae need like 5 days 24/7 60 degree temp to produce. But I got to thinking, last winter, we were still in the 30/40 at night and 50s in the day an I saw mosquitos! so what if they get into my house and reproduce in the warm home? |

My old dogwas on it year round for a fe years, but I eventually stopped the year round, she was also on the flea and heartworm medicine. I did it only in the summer.
With Luther, he has never taken the heartworm meds. He just takes the flea meds, occasionally. |

| Not far south of Houston they have an annual Mosquito Festival so that should indicate our situation. I keep the boys on Sentinel all year. |

My brood stays on Interceptor. I'm not risking it.
I dont' use any topical or oral flea and tick preventative. They get brewers yeast and a bit of garlic powder daily. That keeps everything away! |
