My kitten Smokey had eaten a piece of my neanthe bella palm tree, and had thrown it up. Aftere that, he developed diahrea. I looked up online to see if the plant was toxic to cats, and it is not. But, he acted so lethargic and tired, I called his vet today, and they told me to bring him in, so I got him in early this morning. They took his temperature, and it was 104. I had to leave him there, and they told me they were going to give him meds and keep an eye on him. They hope that by tomorrow morning his temp. will be down. May be some kind of infection in his intestine? They did tell me it was most likely not because of eating the plant.Even still, I brought one of my other plants to my Mom's house. I'm so worried! Any way, if his temp is not better by tomorrow morning, they will begin testing for feline felv. What is that? Is that feline aids, or feline leukemia? I pray he is going to be ok!

I'm very sorry to hear that.

FeLV is sort of like AIDS in humans. It's a virus that attacks the immunes sytsem. There's also an FIV which does basically the same thing, but it's a different virus that's not quite as contageous as FeLV.

Hopefully it's not either of those, though.
