We live out in the country and have a large pole barn behind the house. A pregnant cat we call Miss Kitty would come and hang out in the barn, and also try to sneak in our garage whenever possible. We knew she must have had her kittens because we didn't see her for about a week, and one night I left the garage door cracked just a little for our cat Tigger, and the next morning there she was in the garage-with 6 kittens! One of the kittens , a long haired gray and white, got sick, and developed an infection. I took him to the vet and the prognosis was not good. The vet said that the poor little guy was incontinent and could possibly lose his tail from the infection. He gave me some antibiotics for him and told me to keep his sore area clean and use this powder on him that he also had prescribed. I followed what he told me to do, and within one week later when I brought him back to the vet for a followup visit, he had put on a half of a pound, and was healing remarkably fast. He now uses the litter box with no accidents, and has more energy than he knows what to do with. He is about 3 months old now, and gets along well with our two other cats, Boo and Tigger. We are so happy that he is going to be ok, we've become so attached to him, love him dearly!

Best of luck with your new kitties. I hope they are all fine. Would love to see pictures, too. I bet they are all adorable.

As for Miss Kitty and the rest of her brood, we have found good homes for 5 out of 6 kittens and am calling the vet today and see if I may put up a sign there for Miss kitty and her kitten. That is, if I can even get a hold of the last kitten. Out of all of the 6 kittens, she is the only one who will not let us come close to her, she will not even eat with the rest of them untill we leave the barn. They always have dry food and water available at all times and at night we give them canned food. And, she just sits on the other side of the barn and waits until we leave. Her mother is so different. She is about a year and a half, and as friendly and loving as could be. Does anyone have any thoughts on how to get this last kitten? We have thought possibly a live trap. We just don't know what to do with her. Will she some day make a good housecat? I can't just let her fend for herself. Any advice. Thanks, Nano.

I'd use a live trap and see if you can find a no-kill group to take her. She might settle down once she realizes people aren't scary....well most anyway
