I just found this board and I'm really pleased because I need some advice about my oldest cat, Kiri. She's 9 years old now and mostly lives outside. It's a kind of complicated situation, but the short version is that myself and my partner live with his brother and sister-in-law at the moment. The sister-in-law is an extremely fastidious housekeeper and we obviously can't have a cat inside who might suddenly have to go to the toilet on her furniture, etc. Kiri lives on a sheltered verandah most of the time where she has her food and water. For a while she was sleeping on a chair which she liked to sit on. The chair was taken away when one day we found faeces on it. This was about two months ago. Now, today, we found faeces on the day bed she's been sleeping on since the chair was taken away. She's always been a very clean cat and no trouble at all. If anyone has any experience of this, I'd love some advice. I don't know whether it's old age, because to me 9 is not old for a cat. She did get bitten by a paralysis tick and got quite sick about 6 months ago, and I suppose it's possible that she might have sustained some long-term damage from that? |

It could be possible that she lost the sensation that tells her when its time to go. Its not normal for a cat to go to the bathroom where they sleep, so you might want to call a vet or make an appointment to see if there is still some paralysis in her rear.
Is it just fecal matter or urine as well? Do you have a litter box for her or does she just go outside? |

Hi, Onix Revolution
No, she doesn't have a tray - she uses the great outdoor toilet.
And no, she doesn't urinate. We've only found faecal matter. |

I agree, it might be wise to take her to a Vet who may be able to pinpoint the trouble. She could have a medical problem.
By the way, welcome to the Board. Keep us posted on what you find out about your kitty. Hope she is okay. |
