I have reasearched the heck out of budgies...I know all the basics, but is there anything I may not have found that I should know?
I have the cage set up with the water/feeder/and 3 different toys for them. I am going this saturday to but 3 budgies!
As if you couldn't tell, I am a bit nervous! I have raised chickens for years, but this will be my first budgie experience. I did see these hanging bed type things...do I need to get one of those?
Anything I am forgetting????
Thanks very much!

All you basiclly need to know is since you are getting 3 budgies the cage will need to be large enough to house 4 budgies.
Make sure if you are getting different sexes to always get more females than males.
Cuttlefish bone and mineral block should be in the cage at all times even if you do not plan on breeding them.
As for the hanging beds do not put anything like that in as they will use it for a nest and will start producing eggs.
Keep the cage away from direct sunlight and draughts, Never put them in a kitchen and if you have cookwhere or electric heaters that are coated in teflon place the birds in a room that is away from this as teflon is toxic to birds.

Thank you for the info!!!!! So since I am new to this.....are you saying that if they have a place to lay eggs, they will be more prone to do so?
It woudl be fun to breed them, but that is the furthest thing from my mind for a long time!
A mineral block? This is different from a cuttlebone right? I will look at the store in the morning.
Thanks so much for the info! |

Hi another thing i would recommend is to NOT place the cage near anything that has a motor EX.fridge or anything that vibrates becuase i herd this can transfer the litelest shockwaves and they may disturb the birds.
Send pictures via boreds when you get the budgies ! i would love to see' um |
