i found this beautiful piece of it but it floats how do i make it sink

You can try siliconing it to a piece of slate then burry the slate in your substrate. I've also heard that if driftwood is soaked for about a month or so (I could be wrong on that timeframe) it will eventually get waterlogged enough to sink.

That's why I like malaysian driftwood. It sinks by itself w/o having to be weighed down.

I love the look of drift wood in aquariums too!!! I've tried soaking the driftwood for a long period of time but I've never been able to get it to sink on it's own. My driftwood has been in my tank for 3 months and it still needs to be anchored down.

Like Chelle, I prefer Malaysian driftwood. It sinks on its own and I don't want to mess with trying to weight it down. Too much hassle IMO. Have you guys boiled the wood? I've heard that can help, it will also reduce the tannins in the wood so your water won't be as stained.
