I was trying to find a bichon dauschund mix, and i came upon this site: http://www.dogomania.com/gallery/breeds/breed319/

There are some VERY weird mixes here like: Beagle Pit Bull Mix, Doberman Afghan Bernese mix, pit bull coyote mix, australian cattle dog beagle mix etc.

some very weird big dog/small dog mixes i thought would be impossible.

I just can't stand it. Why in he.. do people have to cross breed ? There are to many dogs out there as it is. Just a thought but do any of these people even think first about the consequences of there actions. All I here is how cute, or look at all the colors and what funny little legs, well how about the hips, eyes, skin, did any of them think about what they were making first ? Did any of theses people think about the Health and what it well do to the original breed. For pete sakes we have enough trouble with the pure breeds we have now, why would someone want to make it worse. I make it a practice to have all my guys fixed if I don't want to breed them so there are NO accidents and there well be some weird dog running around out there. Take in consideration how many people get a dog of pure breed and then decide they don't want it and then work at placing it in a home, NOT EASY. Now take a mixed dog and try and place it...?? All this BS about taking two dogs that are of good temperament well give you a pup the same or a long hair with a short hair with spots well give you what a shi** spotted dog that may have bad health. What next a cross between a giraffe and a elephant then it can lick it's own ***. or why don't we just cross a person with a jackass and save time.
Ok now all of you can jump on me if you want but that is how I feel and it's my thoughts. If God wanted it he would have made it.

Out of the whole site, i honestly think about 5 of these dogs were 'mistakes'. But Ijust cant see how it you would get a Golden Retriever/ Labrador/ Dalmation/ Rottweiler and still be a mistake!

Here right now in my town there are Maltese/Pit Bulls advertised as a PLANNED breeding and the owners are asking 200 each for them. I cannot even BEGIN to point out all the mistakes of that. I would be here ALLLL day. the nerve of some people. Instead of spaying and neutering pets, they should spay and neuter the owers. The DEFINATLY dont need to be able to reproduce...lolol

I like the dal/lab crosses...

As for mixed breeds... I think they are better then the purebreeds.. there is so much inbreeding with the purebreeds. We have 2 muts and one purebreed. The mixes are a lot better then the pure in my opinion. Although I love them all and would never give them up!!!

One of ours is a shepherd mixed with something REALLY big (Klink)... the other mut is a collie mixed with a golden lab (Anna) and the pure is a chi. (Duke) ... all can be seen on our site.

I like mixed breeds too Laura...but it's when people ask for hundreds of dollars for these dogs when they can be adopted at shelters for a percentage less that is nuts. Why would anyone pay hundreds of dollars for a mixed breed that is bred on purpose when they can go to a shelter and get one for so much less - it's beyond my comprehension.

I once saw , in a trader magazine, a golden retriever/shepherd mix for $600!!!!!! That was nuts

I agree Mary. It is crazy that they try to sell them for that price... but if people buy them... they will keep selling them at that price. As the old saying goes... "a fool and their money are soon seperated!"

I watched a piece on 60 minuts awhile back about the issue of mixed breeds, or what they were calling desiner dogs. It was very upsetting to say the least! Mad They would go under cover to these so called Breeders or even pet shops and inquire about purchasing a dog. They found that in more than one occasion, they were starving the mother while pregnant so as to have TINY pups. Then they had the nerve to tell the perspective buyer that: they all had been health checked by a vet. "Not True" just had some made up papers.....

I love mixed breeds and have nothing against them, but thier are some real idiots out there that only want the mula and could care less what they do to these poor animals.

When they busted them, hardly nothing was done to them Sad small fine...will probably relocate and start over.....

The good thing about airing programs such as that one is: educating people on what they are REALY buying...and how it came to be in the first place.

I don't even know what a maltese looks like, but all I can picture is a long haired dog. The ones with the hair that covers their eyes. I know Harley wouldn't look good with a cut like that. Wink
