Hello everyone!!

I have a question. My mom and dad have a brittany spaniel, yellow lab mix that is 10 years old. In May she had a wart removed from her neck (see picture). Since that time the area that was shaved around the wart has not grown back. Then my dad clipped her about 3 weeks ago and the hair on her back hasnt grown in at all but it has on her sides. They have taken her to the vet and he has no idea why this is happening. Do any of you have any ideas why this is??

Her coat may be going through a dormant period, and it just needs more time to start growing in again. But it could also be something else. I'd ask the vet to do a complete blood panel, including thyroid levels. Other things to concider are Cushing's Diseas and alopecia X.

I showed my vet the picture and he said that it was a thyroid problem. My dad is taking her back to his vet for a complete thyroid drug panel. Sad that their vet in Oregon had no idea what was wrong.

Good news! Mom and Dad took Patches to the vet and had a complete blood panel ran on her and it was a thyroid issue. The vet put her on some meds and said she will be right as rain very soon. Also Dad has cut her food down to get some of the weight off of her so all is going well. Thanks all again for your help and concern!
