| What would look better an assorted african Cichlid tank or a discuss tank. Its a 90 gallon corner tank. With dark backround dark substrate. |

| i think cichlids because they are eryactive and will all go off and do their own thing. while discus are more stationary, and although have some different colors, they all seem to be the same in a way. |

Grnlemondae is obviouslt biased and wrong ;]
Discus are actually more varied in color types than cichlds and, being peaceful types, there are even certain other fish you can match them with. They also require fewer gallons of water per fish, so while many cichlids take up an inordinate amount of space, you could actually put about 8 or 9 discus in your tank. |

I would say it just depends on what you like. They are a wide variety of colorful discus out there but there are also some cichlids that are just as beautiful.
IMO, I would go with cichlids. Discus are hard to keep healthy and need pretty much pristine water conditions to stay healthy. |

| I like both, but I like discus more because I went to this place where I saw probaly one of the most amazing tanks ever and it had very amazing looking discus and so from then on I wanted discus, even though I do not think that I will buy them. Thanks what I think anyways. But you should choose what you can handle. Discus are water and food sensitive and cichlids can be very agressive so as I just said it is up to you. |

| Simple fix to your problem, split the tank half way, with a tank divider, 45gs on each side, make it both discuss and cichlid, both like brackish conditions so its perfect! |

Not really true. African Cichlids prefer hard alkaline water and Discus prefer soft acidic water usually treated with blackwater tonic or peat. |

As much as I would love to have a tank full of beautiful discus, they need a lot of specialized care and are very sensitive, difficult fish to keep so I personally wouldn't keep them.

I do like African Cichlids, But discus Chichlids are more my thing because they swil with grace and are an excellent ornamental fish. Although they do need perticular attention toward their needs, it pays off.
If you have discus you can also have other community fish, such as guaramis, as they are from the amazon, or tetra's etc, anything with in reason that will surfice in an acidic PH and a GH of about 6.5.
Take Care |
