you people just dont get it. its not for the thrill of watching animals fight, they are not fighting, fighting last a few minutes, this last seconds. and get a life you said? i have one, it pay about 25,000 a comp. its not about watching "animals fight" so you say, its about teaching you dog and devoting time to something you love, its not some sick thrill ride, its a part of our southern tradition. Dont talk bad about it to you go to one, have a dog, or get cut by a hog.If you have land, wait till hogs take it over, i lost my dairy to hogs and almost my house, they took over and destroyed all my crops and would chase my livestock for miles.i was in dept for years, they destroyed 70 acres of corn in one night. Hogs can have up to 30 pigs a year, imagine this in you surbourban neighborhood or your hunting lease. IF you have hogs you have no deer or much other game, hogs a dominate and they will run everything off.

In the area I live we have an large overpopulation of deer- they eat farmers' crops, they endanger people's lives by stopping in the center of the highway and causing accidents, and they destroy much of the natural vegetation of the area.

HOWEVER, I do not know of anyone who trains their dogs to kill deer- not only does this encourage aggression on the part of the dog, but it is a senseless act of violence against the deer. Instead, we are allowed to obtain a hunting license and kill the deer in a humane way.

If you are so concerned with the overpopulation of hogs, why don't you just shoot them with a gun instead of allowing the sick act of a dog tearing them apart to occur? I am not in support of killing any animal, but I can understand that, like the deer population, it is necessary to control the hog population in your area. What I don't understand is why using a dog is necessary to do this.

Hunting hogs and hunting deer is two completely different things. You rarely see hogs in the daylight hours, its illegal to shoot them at dark. thier sense of smell is so great they are virtually impossible to hunt. the dogs do not tear them apart, they rarely get cut. and we are not trying to have to comp to limit the population of the hogs, more to confine them in a area to keep them away from crops and people, hogs dont even come close to compare with deer population, so next time you want to make a smart comment , think it over first. the dog is not used to control the hog population, people are. we trap the hog and put them in our pin and make some use out of them. And again NO animals are killed in these events

whos talking about deer? i think that hogs are a little more agressive, and destructive than deer. i dont know anyone that trains dogs to kill deer either? and yes all animals eat natural vegitation but hogs travel in packs and can ruin a farmers lively hood in a single night. have you ever stumbled upon wild boars before? if you dont have a gun with you, you better hope that theres a near by tree to climb, and be prepared to sit up there for a good while. we hunt hogs here, for sport mainly bc the meat is too tough and has more of a wild flavor. it's nothing inhumane. i did some reading and i dont see anything inhumane with hog catching either. the dogs wear a vest and hogs have skin like an elephant. and most terriers were bred with a high prey drive anyways. so you don't really need to "teach" them anything. it's somthing that they are naturally good at. if you are so concerned with animal aggression i dont know why you chose the apbt as the dog for you? im not trying to start another arguement. but animal aggression in these dogs is very common. this sport isn't inhumane at all. lots of people do it. our dogs are good at it. nobody gets hurt most of the time. i just dont see anything morally wrong with this.
