I think that pitbulls are so misunderstood because stoopid people out there believe everything they hear in the media. I think that if a dog any dog is agressive it's the way it's being treated or was treated once. I have a 4 month old pitbull named cheeko and he is so good, loyal, sweet, and affectionate he is such a dog and before i got him he was in an abusive home and he has never shown agression towards my family,me, or any other animals except if he feels threatened IP: Logged |

there are the ocasional bad eggs that do turn out to be people aggressive. you won't know if you're dog is dog aggressive untiil he's a little older like 1.5-2 years old when his temperment develops. yeah it sucks how they're misunderstood! so did you adopt him or what? thats really good. just remember it doesn't mean he will attack you or your family if he shows signs of being dog aggressive. dog aggression and people aggression are two completely different things. it's pretty common for pits to not get along with other dogs. thank you for giving him a good home. and good luck to you guys! "Thx. for telling me about when i can see if he's agressive " Don't rely on 1.5-2 years as a given. I have seen some that became animal aggressive as early as 6 months. Good luck with your pup. IP: Logged |

quote: My boy started at less than 3 months. But also knew some that didnt start until almost 3 years. But what Benny Boy said is mostly true because the dog is getting to be mature. Some don't ever turn on. [This message has been edited by True_Pits (edited 01-22-2004).] IP: Logged |

Actually you're all right in a way that you can't tell if your pit is agressive until they're a certain age. He is such a good pit pupp and people always tell me how cute he is but mostly they tell me to watch out because he might turn on me which i don't think he will but i hate that people judge the whole breed because a few dogs in the breed did something wrong. Oh Fastlane I wasn't saying you did, sorry if you took it that way. I was only telling her it is still the usual age as well as youngins startin early and older dogs suddenly starting at or near 3...lol I used your quote about the 6 months to go along w/ my lil guy that started before he hit 3 months. Yeah I would definatly not worry about him turning on you. Most of the stories I hear the breed isn't a real pit bull or the dog was in bad situation. Most pits dont even turn on their owners even when beaten, starved and abused, they are too afraid and still love people. If they go into a new home they still have a love for humans and don't act aggressivly to the new owners in MOST cases, however their is some exceptions. Also your dog is young so that makes it even less of a chance, the sooner a dog is rescued the more chances it has of adapting and even habits being trained away with ease, ect. IP: Logged |

yeah i got roxy from a poor excuse for a person when she was 4 months old. im pretty sure that she was beaten bc everytime i'de go to pet her she would cower or roll over on her back in submission and when i would call her she would kind of crouch down and be hesitant about coming over to me and when she did her tail was always tucked. but with lots of love shes a happy dog no longer living in fear. all i have to do is raise my voice a little bit and she responds. shes not quite as stubborn as most pits ive seen. My poor baby cheeko was abused and was left in a backyard with his siblings most of the time and i heard form my cousin he was badly abused but now he's doing better and acts really happy especially when he's around children and running and playing with them or with anybody. IP: Logged |
