I think they just feel the love from you and your family so he is giving his love back. My boy Willie is like that when I get home from work. He wants to be in my lap licking me and nuzzling me, like he is showing me that he missed me and is happy I am home with him. IP: Logged |

My mom's Chihuahua does this, licks legs, toes, arms; darting in, licking, then running off again before you can even look down. He and Haley will also give a person a good tongue bath if they're within reach and don't push them away I've read/heard several times that submissive, lower ranking dogs often do this to higher ranking individuals, cleaning them, etc. That seems to go along with what we have, both Haley and Joey are pretty submissive, and none of the less submissive dogs do it very often. I think that is the best thing about having a dog. It shows how much they love you! IP: Logged |

yep my dogs obsessed with licking. it annoys guests alot and they always tell her off. which i think is mean because id prefer her to lick than bite. *lick* 'youve been blessed by the dog!' she licks the cat alot too and soaks her head. the cats not impressed with this! IP: Logged |
