hey everyone my name is jeremiah and i just bought a pit bull. i love animals and already have 2 dogs. i am sorta in a very messy situation, my pit i bought named Jade has the disease parvo. i took it to the vet today and he said her white blood cells are so low he couldn't even see them. but he also said that they caught it in a early stage. they gave me 2 choices i can pay for the best treatment which will cost about 200 dollars per day or i can pay for the cheaper treatment which cost about 100 dollars per day. i just turned 16 and i have been saving for many years for a car. i finally got a nice one and i sold it so that i can pay for Jade's treatment. If there are any experts out there reading this i would just like to know what the chances of her living is and how often dogs survive this disease. I don'ty wanna pay for the more expensive treatment if she is going to die. and i am not very religious and i know that all of you have no clue who i am but will you all please pray for my dog i really care about her and don't want to lose her. i have msn and aim and aol if anyone can contact me with some information. my aim sn is jrbcashwars and that is my msn name too. my aol sn is ibag2003 thanks to everyone that took the time to read this.

Do the treatment right now. My dog had parvo when he was 3 months old. We did not know what was wrong with him and thought maybe he swallowed a bone that couldn't be digested etc...we waited two days. All the vets told me he would not make it....he's still with me now and he's 4 years old and the bestest friend I could have ever asked for. You can save for a better car later....please help the puppy now or have it put to sleep so it doesn't have to suffer....go now...go now...go now

Okay, I had to post for you to go now...it kills me inside to know when a puppy has this terrible disease..it causes them soooooooooooo much pain.

Anyways, let me tell you all about Parvo. It is a virus so it actually has no cure, but they can hidrate the dog and give the dog the strength it needs to fight off this terrible disease. Duke was 3 months old when he caught it. He was throwing up for about a day then it turned into diareah. The vomit and direa turned into blood the next day. What Parvo does is turn the dog insides out. My dog was this little skeliton that could not get up out of bed, he was weak and helpless and just kept getting sicker and sicker. We took him to the Pet emergency as soon as we saw the blood. It cost me $150.00 for them to hydrate him, they told me that if they did not keep him there overnight that he would die by morning. My husband and
I stood there looking at him and we just couldn't let him die, but I couldn't exactly afford the $1000.00 bill for a two day stay at this hospital. What they did is give him all the meds possible and we took him home over night until my vet opened in the morning. I slept in my clothes and got out of bed and took the dog straight to the vet. He stayed there for 1 week. It cost me $650.00, but worth every single penny. They also told me that he would not make it.....I had to prove them wrong, My Duke is definatley worth it....help out your little guy...get him fixed or save him from that pain and have him put to rest. But he will most likley survive.

Bestest luck to you and your dog. Please let me know how things work out.

Michelle

hey thanx yall for postin shmoopie your story is very inspiring to me and gives me hope, the thing is they said it will cost 100-200 dollars to get the dog well again if they can, my car is valued at $1600 dollars but the best deal i could get was 1000 dollars therefor leaving me short about 300 dollars so i have been collecting sports cards my whole life and have some very valuable ones i am going to have to sell them too by tomorrow somehow to get enough money. another thing i also have 2 other dogs one i have had for 6 years (he's my best friend) and my puppy i have had for 2 months. since i got Jade about a week ago they have been around her and even slept in the same room with her a couple of times and this worries me. i am pretty sure the disease is contagious or Jade wouldn't have got it but would yall think that my other 2 dogs now have parvo? and is the disease more contagious to a puppy? anyways its really good to see people in this world still care about other people and their problems. yall thanks so much for replying to my post

Hello Hello

Does the puppy that is not sick have it's shots yet?

If not Parvo is very contagious. It remains dormant for 1 year wherever the dog has spread saliva, blood or feeces. You must throwaway everything and anything that puppy used and bleech everywhere twice a day. Do not allow your other puppy to have contact with your dog that has Parvo until it has had it's shots. It takeS about 1 week for Parvo to become noticable.

This is why it is so important to vaccinate all puppies.

Has the other puppy shown any signs of the Parvo?

hey, no the puppy has no had its shots yet and it is not showing any sings of parvo but i am making sure anyways and taking it to the vet as soon as my mom gets home i'll post here if jade is going to be ok or not. last night i was looking up information about parvo till about 4 am and i found this stuff called Parvaid. i read all the testimonies from the people who have used it and it sounded really good. one of the people who works at the company gave me an ingredient of some tea that will hold her over till they can get the Parvaid to me. hopefully it will work be back to tell yall how jade is doing in a lil bit.

Is Parvaid a preventative medacine or will it help the puppy fight the disease if it already has it in the system? Any which way, keep a close eye on the other puppy that is showing no signs and the moment you notice change in behavior bring it in to the vet.

Good luck and good happy loving thoughts coming your way.

hey well i have some good news. Jade made it through the night and did not get any worse. my mom got this stuff called noni juice which helps animals and humans. i listened to some tapes aobut it and if it really works like the poeple say it does then she will live. i think it will work, we went to the vet to see her today and they said she couldn't even hold down water. so we gace her some of the noni juice mixed with water and she held it down. the juice is supposed to be able to cure things as high as cancer very expensive for juice but not as much as it would have cost to do it the other way. either way i am going to give her both treatments she was looking a lot better today when i went and saw her. i spent a long time in the room with her petting her. the noni juice was the first thing she had in her, food wise and water wise for 2 days. well i have to go now weill keep yall updated. thanks for the support -Jeremiah

hey yall i have some more really good news the vet and he said she has done better with this disease than most dogs he's seen. i have to feed her boiled chicken with rice. a little bit each time several times a day. i had to give her a pill too, i had a time trying to get to swallow it lol. he said this morning she was actually up and bouncing around. i tink it was because of the noni juice, he said she got a little bit worse towards the end of the day, i think cuz he didn't give her anymore of the juice. i was just sitting in the laundry room with her for a little while and she looks really bad. she hasn't eaten in 2 days and they said i can't feed her till tomorrow. she won't even drink any of the juice. but i expect her to be ok. i wanted to thank everyone who posted in here showing concern especially you shmoopie for you to show so much concern about my dog when even my friends didn't ask how she was doing meant a lot. i am glad i found this forum so i can post things and my feelings while this was happening. i will keep yall updated.

Hi Jerimiah,

I am so glad to hear your puppy is doing better!!!

I wish I could have helped earlier, but I know nothing about Parvo, except that it is very deadly to young dogs.

Your pup is so lucky to have such a fine parent as you.

Jeremiah, you are doing a wonderful job with the poor little puppy.

I really hope she will be fine.

One quick question: You say you bought this puppy....what kind of place did you buy her from? I suggest you go back to wherever you got her and inform them of this.

Jeremiah,
You are a wonderful person and obviously a very caring person towards animals and also a very responsible teenager. You sold your car for your dog! That is totally awesome. I am always a softy for a happy story about an animal because you hear so many horrible ones. I dont personally own a pitbull but I do own a rottie and they have similar wrong stereotypes. Your story brought tears to my eyes. Keep up the awesome effort as a responsible pet owner and good luck with all your babies. We'll keep praying for her!

That's wonderful news! I'm so glad your girl is going to make it.

She will give you back 200% of everything you give to her, and your family will find out what wonderful dogs these are.

Looking forward to your pics.
