I have recenlty bought a 14'2, 11yr old grey cob. He is wonderful and I have great fun except the other day his former owners stopped by and said he was looking very thin. He is a very broad horse and he wieghs 390 kg. I give him 2 feeds a day, with 2 scoops of cool mix and he is out for 2 hours ( although the horses have the grass cut down a lot so there isn't much!) and he gets a couple of hay feeds. i ride him pretty easily for 5 hours a week. I would love opinions as to whether he sounds like he isn't getting enough and how to rectify the situation!! Thanks soo much Laura IP: Logged |

Hi there, I am not sure if you are still looking for an answer, but there are many great articles out there regarding food intake and weight management. Here is just a sample, good luck. IP: Logged |

check with your vet just to make sure the feed ammounts is right. it may be that your horse is adjusting to a new surrounding or may need his teeth rasped if he seems to be dropping food. IP: Logged |
