Please help me, I have a straight tailed goldfish which is 3 years old adn about 5" long, today we tried to introduce a new fish to the tank, another straight tailed shubunkin, however for the first hour they were ok - then my original fish started attacking the new one and biting at his fins - I put some stress coat in but it didn't help so cause I was that frightened he would eat the new one I have separated them -
can anyone help - is there a cure or will my new one have to go back ????

Hi, you said you seperated them, you should take the old fish out for a week or soand then put it back in,when you put it back in it will think its in new territory so wont be so aggresive.

When you do that, change some of the decorations/plants around and add them both at the same time. Make sure that the tank is big enough for both of them. They should be OK then, goldfish generally do well in groups.

Hard to say, each fish is a little different as well. Other things you can try is to keep the lights off for a while. This will help them feel less threatened and more "hidden". Make sure that there are areas where the fish can hide (tall plants, caves etc.) if it is being chased.
