I have a 20 gallon community tank with various tetras and guppies. I bought 2 clown loaches today at 12pm, by 1:30 one of them had disappeared. Now it's 3:00 and the other is dead. Anyways, I have torn the tank apart trying to find the other one. The only fish in the tank bigger than the loaches is a pictus cat, about 3". Could the cat have made a snack of my new clown loach? I called the store back and they said that pictus cats aren't aggressive. Any ideas what might have happened to him? I should also mention that a few days back I had 2 silvertip tetras disappear too.... no bodies where ever found, and I did check my filter. Thanks a lot!! IP: Logged |

HI tina1, Pictus will eat Clown Loaches but if you have a UG filter you might want to look on the bottom side of your tank. Clown Loaches are notorious for going down the riser tubes and getting under the gravel. IP: Logged |

Thanks!!! I'm glad I can get a straight answer from someone out there. I don't have a UG filter and this is going to sound bad but I only bought the clown loaches because I heard they eat snails. Do you have any suggestions for a compatible fish that will eat small snails? Tank is 20 gal. has 3 guppies, the evil pictus cat, and 5 various tetras. Thanks again! IP: Logged |
