my poor little dwarf frog got her leg caught in the filter this morning (or at least that is when I found her) and her leg is all red. She floated on the top for a bit and I poked her to see if she is alive and she is on the bottom now. Anything I can do? The leg is swollen and red. I know its just a frog but it looks pretty sore!
When I first got my tank, I put a peice of nylon on the tip of the filter (Aquaclear 500) -because it sucked up a few of my neon tetras. Now the frog..even with the nylon on and it is on the low flow setting!... Any suggestions that would stop this from happening in the future would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

im not sure wat to do to stop stuff getting sucked into the filter but for the frog just baby it and it should heal drop food right in front of it and make sure it gets to the surface for air every once in a while and if u have other critters in the tank maybe put her in a small tank on her own untill she is heeled so that ur other critters dont bother her or hurt her more.\

well good luck!

my frog seems to be doing well these past few weeks. It doesnt seem to be a major problem anymore although it did look grim. I cant tell the difference between the two frogs that I have as the leg seems to have repaired itself. I am totally amazed at how resiliant it was! It did shed alot after it happened so perhaps that helped. As for the undergraval filter I dont think I want to purchase one as I now have live plants in my aquarium and it would cause another problem with the plants...otherwise a great suggestion- thank-you. I have put a bigger peice of nylon on the filter tubing and also surrounded the tubing with plants so that it would take away some of the suction power. It does help however not all the time.
Thanks for your concern!

I am sorry to hear about your frog. My friend had one and said that this happened to her too. I am not sure what I would do if you already tried setting it to low.
