I tried driftwood in my 70 gallon tank and it did the same thing. I tried multiple water changes with no results. I ended up taking it out. After about 2 more water changes, no more brown icky water. IP: Logged |

some types of driftwood leak tannin and likely will never stop. a lot of fish really like blackwater, though people often don't like tea stained water in their aquariums. you can get driftwood that does not color the water. IP: Logged |

of course its not bad for the fish. it actually softens water and lowers ph!! i got a piece of bogwood from my local river and i started with the ph of 8.2 now its 6.8 IP: Logged |
