i have two oscars a tiger and a albino oscar there about the same size 2.5in. long i just got one of them about 5 days ago the tiger oscar and i just got the albino oscar 3 days ago and all they do is lay at the bottom off the tank and i have just noticed that my albino's tail is like twitching back and forth then stops then twitches agin i think it just started and i was wondering if anybody knows why it would be doing this and if it is messed up or not and the tank is ok the temp. is at 74-76 degrese. Jim, I had an oscar do the same thing when I brought him home. He stayed at the bottom of the tank not moving for almost 5 days. I raised the temp to 79-80 and it got him moving a bit. The water might be a little on the cold side for them, or they just may take a little time to get used to the tank. I wouldn't rule out some sort of dissease or amonia or ph or something along those lines. I assume your tank was cycled properly before you put them in? Check your levels. Hope this helps. ------------------ IP: Logged |

It sounds like the Oscars are new to the tank and the Pacus are somewhat larger than the 2.5" Oscars. They are probably a little bit intimidated by the Pacus. Give them a little bit of time and they should snap out of it. IP: Logged |
