I have a 10 gal tank that I usually keep feeders in but I have always bought all of them. I was wondering how hard it would be to breed guppies in i the 10 gal and if its not hard then could someone give me some pointers on stuff like how many females and males should I get and put in it to get them started. Any help would be great. IP: Logged |

that is true you need more females than males otherwise the males will stress the females too much and they will die IP: Logged |

breeding guppies is easy i breed them for feeder fish. here is what you need tank 10 gal is fine. about a five to one ratio of females to males (if you get seven females get two males so if one dies you have a backup). a little salt. some cover at the bottom of the tank for the babie (dense plants and rocks and stuff, or just some screen so the parents cant get the babies). put this at the bottome because the babies go down when they are born. and then just wait. the females will get fat and they will get black around the back of there bodie and then you will see little fish at the bottom of the tank. good luck any more ?'s email me at m_ikel34@hotmail.com IP: Logged |

I used to breed guppies in a 10 gallon tank. I ran 9 females to 3 males. I had pea gravel in the bottom and floated Hornwort at the top of the tank. I put in enough Hornwort so that it covered the top half to one third of the tank. This gave the babies plenty of cover from carnivorous daddys and also served as a food source for the babies. Make sure you have plenty of lighting to keep the Hornwort green and keep it from decaying. Aquarium salt was at 1 tablespoon for 10 gallons. Good Luck! IP: Logged |
