I just but two betta together. I know one is a male! He is opening his gills to try to look bigger. The other one isnt reacting to that at all. I cant tell if it is M or F? How can I tell? Is this normal when you first put them together? IP: Logged |

Male bettas are very colorful with long fins. Female bettas are just the opposite. They are usually a grayish brown color without the long fins. It is not easy to breed bettas, so you better do your homework if you try. Don't put two males together because they will fight to the death. I used to have alot of bettas in split tanks, but you can put bettas in any peaceful community tank successfully. Just don't put them in an aggressive tank. Their long fins are too tempting to aggressive fish. IP: Logged |
