I live in the upper midwest of USA and have two small garden ponds in which I keep goldfish during the spring summer and fall. The ponds have a southeastern exposure which is unshaded and have direct sun from early morning until 2:00pm. From late spring through early fall, algae growth in the ponds is very intense. In order to enjoy the fish, I need to completely change the water after about two weeks or sometimes less. What can I do to eliminate or slow down this process. Will shading the ponds help? Do the biological filters help? Is there a safe and effective chemical that I can use? Is there anything else I can try? Please advise me. Thanks, Steve IP: Logged |

Shading the ponds will help alot. You will also need to circulate the water in the ponds. Standing water get algae quicker then moving water. IP: Logged |
