Ok, so we were BBQ'n chicken last night...and out from behind the barn walked a momma dog and 9 puppies!!! Oh my heart hit the ground. The babies weren't even old enough to be walking aroundlike they were! Their eyes must have only been open for about two days or so! They're so small, and cute, and oh god I'm gonna cry again!

I remember seeing an old beat up truck driving slowly down our road, but they didn't stop or anything....so I don't know, and I haven't seen that truck anywhere before.

I had to put the other three dumpee's into another pen. and I was able to catch the 9 puppies, but the momma dog is stark wild. Its obvious someone was really mean to her. You can see where her collar was, and it must have been too tight, she has scabs all around that area.

I guess they threw her out of the car with the babies, and took the collar off so I wouldn't find out who they were.

I fed the babies, and left some food out for the momma dog. The puppy pen is short enough that she could jump in it with no problem, but the babies can't climb out.

Only problem is that every time I try to catch her when she's in the pen, she hops out and runs off.

I'm gonna have to get my friend over, he has white tail deer and keeps a tranq. gun just in case one's injured, escapes, exc....

I don't have a choice, but I don't like that rought either.

She's in bad shape. Skinny and mangled.

I'm guessing they are shephard/terrier....about a med. size dog. The puppies are all diffrent colors!

What am I gonna do now? Oh lordy. I pray for the day I have no strays, dumpee's, and rejected pets from abuse or neglect.....

I'll try to post photos when I get a chance.
I don't know what to do!

I just can't consive how someone could do this! I know I say that everytime a new dog, puppies exc, come my way, but everytime I can't help but think to myself, what do they do to their own family? Throw them out when their tired of them?? What if their daughter gets pregnant, throw her and the baby out on the side of the road? COme on! These babies are precious. not even a 1/2lb each!!!!

I walked the road in the dusk last night, making sure there were no more, I didn't find any, but thats not to say they weren't hurt and run off into the bushes.... I'll look again when I get off work. As for now, their happy and content in their box of soft blankets, and warm puppy food.

Hope you can catch momma and get her sorta aswell.
Good luck and wish the world had more people like you in it the animals would be some much happier.

Well if they don't care enough to have them...what makes anyone think they'd take them all the way to Houston or Austin to a shelter???

I just..ugh! you know, if they can't care for them, why in the hell did they get them in the first place? Because it was a cute puppy???? "aww look honey ( or mommy or daddy) ain't he cute??? Can I have him..PLLLEEEESSSEEE!!??" Then bring them home, neglect and abuse them, and
*WHAM* back to square one!

OH if I could round up every idiot I'd give em a good beatin!!

That is aweful. I just can't get over how some people can just dump their unwanted pets.
I hope your able to catch the mother...sounds like the poor dog is terrified.

the poor mom dog...it's heartbreaking to imagine how rough her life must have been to be so afraid.

But if they dumped these dogs anywhere I'm glad they dumped them in a loving and caring environment.

Hi Sam, I can't believe it happened AGAIN! I've lost count on how many you have taken in and helped now. I tell you girl! you DO need to sell some product to cover some of the cost of helping these poor animals. That poor Mama dog! it breaks my heart to think of her jumping in and out of that cage to be with her pups.... Is there anyone that is able to help you at all? I hope so!

This is horrible. I work at a Sheriffs Office and we are constantly getting calls about dogs/cats left at the dumpsters. I want so badly to leave work and go get them. I dont know what is wrong with some people.
P.S. Congrats Mike! Please keep us updated on Mitzy and the pups.

Well, the pups are doing great. I've caught momma dog!!!

They are older than I initially thought and doing great. Hopefully this weekend they can find homes.

The three female pups have all found wonderful homes!!! I'm soooo glad.

Yeah tell me about it. I've got letters demanding $$$ for everything I've neglected to help these little guys.... Anything I can do to raise $$ I'm doing..... Its really hard. But I'm sure I'll pull through.

Those puppies are lucky they got dumped at your place...fate? If they could speak, I am sure they would tell you how much they love you for taking such good care of them through personal sacrifice of your own. You are a great person and it warms my heart to know there are people out there like you. Do you have a vet that will donate his time and services to this situation. Where can donations be sent?

The vet I use now is only charging me about 1/2. I haven't found a vet that will donate anything totally yet.

There is another lady, that has set up a spay and neuter program in our area. If you donate $20 she'll pay the rest to spay them.
I think its a great idea, and I've been taking the females (that are old enough) to them. There are a few vets that work with this program. Any one that adopts a puppygets a card to remind them, and tell them of the program.

If you want donate puppy supplies thats great. Just email me and I'll send you some info!

The little stinkers have eaten the whole corner of the rug!!! ugh...gonna have to get another one. That one seems to belong to the dogs now....lol
