You like the squarish faces, don't you? I go more for the narrower heads and stunning colors. Those blues eyes are gorgeous, though! Here are two I am looking at. This rescue lets you have a 2-week trial. Ummm? The other one must have been adopted in the last hour? It was a cute sheltie/corgi sort of guy.

Now that dog looks like he should be called ATTICUS...When I do finaly get a large breed again, I have his name all picked out.. I too like the square face, it makes him look noble and strong! a little like a pit. I don't think I would bob the tail though, I've never liked that much.. Very very nice!!! Susan IP: Logged |

Jamiya, I liked the second dog best, but thats just me. Have you or anyone else ever watched Golden girls on T.V.? they would sometimes show a supposed neighbor dog once in awhile. A great big fluffy brown dog! I don't know what breed it is, but that's the dog I would love to have... IP: Logged |

Now Maisey, when you say natural bobtail, does that mean dogs can be born that way? if so! I didn't know that....Hmmmm IP: Logged |

I think they can be born with bob tails, Susan. Weird, huh? I like the second dog, too, Susan. It says she is really shy, though. That place has a Weekender program - volunteers take dogs for the weekend and report back about how they are in a home, what they know, etc. I'm going to look into it! The Golden Girls dog....I don't remember it! Could it be a Great Pyrenees? Anatolian Shepherd?

I have never seen anywhere else with an official trial period. I mean, any rescue will take a dog back if it comes to that, but it's not a "trial period." I understand why. But it also makes sense to see how the dog fits into your family without feeling like a heel if it doesn't work out. Especially after what happened with Blanco. I am waiting for a call back from that shelter. Lucky is eligible for the weekend program. It sounds like he has been in shelters and foster homes for a long time. I wonder why... Bonnie doesn't say she is eligible for a weekend, but I can ask about her. Then I can see what it is like with two dogs, and Nala will have someone to play with for the weekend!

I love Lucky Jimaya..I see in his eyes that same look Dooley has about him, all he wants to do is please you. Lucky actually looks like my g/f's dog Lady. Susan, Toad is a natural bobtail...yes there are dogs who are born with bobbed tails. On that same site the breeder has provided an information page on the subject. If you click onto the home page and then look at the menu on the left side. In fact....this lady is exactly what I would call a reputable breeder, she has tons of information on her site, she does all testing and places the results on her site for the public to see, she belongs to the breed clubs, shows and works her dogs. She is an advocate for her breed and represents it well. She also has a message board...and often helps people with questions and advice, take one look at her dogs and you know she does right by them. IP: Logged |

Oh yeah...Jimaya, yes I do seem to favor a dog with a boxier strong looking head and body. I like muscle, I like lean athletic looking dogs...but muscle. A look of power, pride...something, I know it when I see it I guess. I can look at a hundred pictures of catahoulas and they are nice, but then there is one that just screams at me, like Toad does. I mean sheesh look at that dogs build! IP: Logged |

Hehehehe!! I am getting a doggie for the weekend! It will either be Bonnie Blue or Lucky - depending on which is a better match for Nala (and how they act with cats). I am going up after work to meet them. Whichever one I don't take this weekend I will probably take for another weekend, unless there is a problem or they get adopted first. I guess Lucky has been in the program for a LONG time and no one has even filled out an application on him. How strange! He's beautiful and sounds like a great dog. Maybe they should list him with the aussie rescue. In fact, I don't recall ever seeing this place come up on any of my pet searches until yesterday - maybe that's the problem!

I'm a bit worried. I know she is fine with other dogs in other places after the Blanco incident - but we have not had any IN the house since then. Hopefully it will go okay!

It sure sounded like that was a Blanco problem and not a Nala problem when he was there. Hoping all goes well! Susan IP: Logged |
