Are you sick of me yet?! Here are some more pictures to choose from. The requirements are to send 2 color photographs, "one standing in profile and one head-on showing the facial characteristics of the dog." Which ones should I send that makes her look more like a Border Collie? (Look here for smooth-coated border collies: http://www.gis.net/~shepdog/BC_Museum/Permanent/BC_ColorSmooth.html .) Here are the two head shots:

They do come in all colors! and it also looks like not all of them have ears that stand up. I like the head shot in the first photo, but do you think you'll have a problem with the body shots because she doesn't have a white tipped tail? just wondering.... Susan IP: Logged |

Hmmm. I don't know about the white tip. Do they all have white tips? Should I paint it? LOL! I looked up the AKC standard. I liked the 3rd profile shot the best, but I am concerned about two things. One, her back looks arched - I think it is just her fur, which is thicker around her neck and shoulders (and she is tired and panting in that picture). And two, her tail is curving up over her back, which is a fault. (But I suppose a fault doesn't mean she isn't that breed, ya know?) Her tail looks as fluffy as it will ever get in that picture (which is good) - she has it bushed out a bit. I think she looks stockier in that picture too (which is bad) - maybe I should make the picture smaller or something. I think the second head shot makes her ears seems to stand up more. The standard is 1/4 to 3/4 erect with the rest flopped over (or totally erect). It also makes her muzzle look longer and her eyes are as close as she gets to the BC "stare". Gah! Maybe I will mail them to my agility instructor (or a BC breeder!) and ask her. Or I can take my camera out and shoot some more. *wince*

I really wouldn't worry about her tail vurving over her back. Floobs reaches the floor and when he's herding/playing/concerntraiting it's exactly like those in the pics on that site, but when he's playing excitetdly it's curled right over wagging away and almost hitting his ears. I think their tails down is a sign of concerntration which is possibly why they're all down in photos as they're being told to stay for the pic. The third profile shot looks almost identicle to the first collie on that site. It's only the white tip on her tail she's missing I reckon... so yes, paint it! lol IP: Logged |
