I am a little hesitant to ask because I saw an "argument" earlier over a similar subject, so let me start by saying I am just a mom who is trying to find a dog that will be a good fit for our family. I am not looking to research bloodlines or get into controversy over whether or not these dogs are mutts. I don't care about that. I just want a sweet dog from a reputable breeder. Having said all that, I have bad allergies, and my children want a cuddly lap dog. I am afraid of a pure poodle because I have known many that were high strung. Would anyone suggest a particular poo mix? Also, does anyone know a good breeder? BTW, I am looking for info--not an argument so if you don't like mixes, that is your opinion, please let someone answer who has info. IP: Logged |

Ok, I hope I can help u with this. I had a cocker spaniel poodle mix once, but he was too big for what your looking for. Shihpoos (or whatever theyre called) Shih Tzu poodles mixes tend to be more laid back, at least from what ive seen. Shih Tzus are calmer than poodles, and it sort of balances out. Then theres Peek a poos, pekingese poodle mixes. umm... thats about all i can think of :-) If you go to http://www.dogbreedinfo.com there is a which dogbreed is right for you? kind of quiz. hope this helps! OK, I know this isn't a poodle mix, but some of my friends have a bichon freis (sp?) because one of them has really bad allergies when it comes to dogs. The bichon has been great for them, and isn't too high strung. Just a suggestion. Another friend of mine has a dachsipoo, although I don't know much about it since I don't see her very much. yup, the bichon frise definately slipped my mind. They are wonderful dogs, not very high strung and good for people with allergies. Maybe you can negotiate with your kids? IP: Logged |

the designer mixes are no guarantee when if comes to being nonallergenic - some people are bothered by them. Another smaller dog that is good for those allergy prone is a Maltese. I have a friend who has allergies and he has 2 Maltese and has never had a problem with them. They are smallish dogs though IP: Logged |

My sweet girl sasha, mini poodle is not yappy. She even has a deeper non ear peircing tone. Not all poodles are hyper. Its likely if the parent dogs are even tempered so will the pups. Its all in the breeding. Bichons can be prone to skin issues themselves. Here is a sight for bichon resue. www.smallpaws.com They are all across the U.S. ------------------ IP: Logged |

Hi! I have a Shi Tzu he's very sweet! and not too hyper, they tend to be a one person dog, meaning he sticks to me like glue when I'm home. He's a purebred but I have heard of them being mixed with poodles. Good luck in your search! Susan IP: Logged |
