With all the puppies and unwanted pets and me getting my new place, school ect.... I've decided to try and sell some home made pet treats and home made pet bandanas, collars and stuff. I'll try to post some photos and prices. If anyone can think of anything else to do that would be cute to sell let me know. I'm very crafty and artsy. I also love to burn and draw portraits of pets in and on wood, glass, canvas ect.... Thanks.

You could make memorial stones (or plaques) for pets that have passed on.

$1 is too cheap, I think more like $3 to $4 and there are web sites that sell theirs for $5 - $7. what kind of collars are you thinking of? IP: Logged |

I've got alot of saddle leather, and stuff tomake them out of. Also I can make the little collar covers with diffrent prints on them like for easter, christmas, birthday, and stuff....diffrent holidays. you just slip them over their normal collar and it looks like a new one! I thought of making the doggie and kitty and horse treats as well. I made the Pup Pops and my dogs absolutely loved them! Yeah 3 dollars sounds about right. It will cost me about $5 per yard of fabric, and I can get about 20 small bandanas, 15 med, and about 8-9 big ones out of a yrd of fabric. I'll make some demos and send them to you if you'd like and you can critique me on them. I use a singer sewing machine, and my mother in laws a seamstress.... IP: Logged |

I would be interested. one thing too. is one web-site had inc;luded the price of shipping in the price of their items - something to think about. Honeybear IP: Logged |

Hi Samsintentions, This is a great idea! I'd be really interested in the colar cover idea and perhaps a portrait, or 2? With me living over here tho it might be too difficult to organise, with payment (I have Visa and there's always postal orders) so we'll have to see. One question tho... can those collar covers be personalized? I just know my brother would love it if I got something with a personal touch for his dog. Good luck with this IP: Logged |

Yeah, sounds easy! I made stuff like that for all my puppy owners for christmas. Each collar cover had the puppies names on them. For the drawings and burnings, all you have to do is send me a photo, which I'll return with the items, and money orders are fine, and cashiers checks. I also do some metal art. I've done kennel signs and burned kennel and ranch names in 8-10' cedar and basewood board entrances. For the drawings it usually takes me a week after I've recieved the photos, and for the burning usually 2 wks... The wood is all no smaller that 6"H X 5" WX 1/2" Thick. All base wood, stained or natural. Let me knwo and I'll be happy to get right on it. Email me for more info: IP: Logged |

Sam, To post a photo so it appears directly in your posted message you still have to upload the photo to a web site somewhere. Then just click the "Insert a Picture" option right under the message box and complete the web address where you have posted the photo. Most photo's are uploaded to a web sited in jpeg format(.jpg)so the last part of the url will name the specific photo file name, for example http://home.flash.net/~jdebess/tball1.jpg By posting the link here, as above, you have to click on the link to see the photo. By using the "Insert a Picture" option, the photo will automatically appear in you message. Just make sure the photo image is not too large. This is always somewhat confusing so let me know if you have any trouble. Dukesdad [This message has been edited by dukesdad (edited 03-08-2004).] IP: Logged |

Samsintentions- you should seriously consider applying for 401 C(3) status to become a non-profit rescue with all the dogs you take in! At least then you could apply for grants and get donations..I really admire you for how much you do for homeless dogs! (and cats?) IP: Logged |

I always wondered how that works - the non-profit rescue thing. If we ever move out to the country, I'll look into it. That pattern on e-bay is cute! I'll have to go pick one up at the store in case I ever want to make something like that. Why someone would buy a pattern on e-bay is beyond me, but the finished products should sell. Let us know how it goes, Sam!

Okay, so I'm bored. Here's a great page about starting a rescue with a ton of resources. Some is about birds, but a lot is more generic info. http://www.avianprotectors.homestead.com/Mentoring.html

YEah, I've got a whole binder of information to get 501(c)3 going. I've started the paper work....just takes forever! I bought a couple of doggie coat and clothes paturnes. I started cutting the fabric to make one last night. The pupies are doing great. Running around and playing. THey had their shots yesterday and were mad at me for a whole 2 seconds. Saturday is nearing and I want to keep "molly" as I call her. She looks just like my Border collie at my mothers house. I mean JUST like her!!! She's a mini me to Molly. I even caught Granvel talking to them and callin them cute last night.....he he he... IP: Logged |

Sam, Have you thought of setting up an account with PayPal? that would make it very easy for buyers. I know that's how I like to buy on-line. I'm so proud of you! Susan IP: Logged |
