We had a case here in NH last year where 3 newborns chow pups were found in a trash can in a city park. All pups were alive but 2 had their rear legs cut off and one the tail and rear legs. Police figured it was a case of extreme inhumane mutiliation. One of the puppies had to be put down.

Come to find it was 2 women operating a puppy mill with chow dogs. One of the dogs chewed the limbs off the pups out of instinct - trying to eat her puppies out of stress (protect them so many dogs contained in one area in cages). The women threw the pups into the trash so they wouldn't have to take them to the vet and report what happened and then have the authorities find out they were running a mill.

Apparently one of the women couldn't live with the guilt of what they had done and turned them in.

Is it true that they can't adopt them out until they are done with them as evidence for the case? I think I have heard that before. What will the shelter do with all those puppies?!

I want that doggie in the photos....

I also thought it was interesting how they gave the address! can you imagine the people that go out there in protest! I HOPE SHE'S HOME!!!!!! if that's what you want to call it....

What was really horrifying to me was that the male dogs were given viagra, how painful it must have been for them to have erections non-stop to the point of bleeding. I wondered if the drug effected their mind as well...you know how a male acts and gets crazy, panting, hyper focussed when it's mating time, I wondered if they spent all their time like that? It just seems it would be so painful and exhausting for them. What a horrible way to live. The females broke my heart...I can't imagine using a dog in that way..15 years old! The fact that they said Maltese often have to have cesarean sections to deliver made me really angry knowing that vet care probably was not provided to females needing a c- section so they may have died in pain trying to deliver. The whole thing just makes me sick. I hope the saying "what goes around, comes around" is true and that this woman gets whats coming to her...and I don't mean the law.
When we had that case here where they found over 500 dogs from that collector, I think the dogs were adopted before the court case, that was in WA state,some of those dogs were adopted out of the Oregon humane society though. Here in Oregon I know that the dog who was trained to attack black people on command by the teenagers is being held pending the court case, he is in isolation as well. He will probably be euthanized when all has been said and done. All of it just p*sses me off!

I also posted this on the Catahoula board and in response someone asked why AKC didn't do anything about it when they saw all the registrations coming in. I doubt these dogs were being registered but it brought an interesting response that made me think of a recent thread here about AKC and why some breeds don't want to be associated, or at leaste one reason. Below is what was said...

"Let's face it - The AKC makes thier money off the registering of puppies. They openly support puppy milling. It's all about the bottom line.

The UKC has a Breeder's Ethic - that prohibits puppy milling and the sale of dogs to retail outlets. The UKC also registers neutered mixed breed dogs for proformance competitions. This supplements thier monies -and I am all for it.

After all - in agility - you are not competing Border Collie against only Border Collie. You are competing 16" dogs against other 16" dogs of any breed.

Then there is the CKC - Contentental Kennel Club. They will register any dog with a picture. No bloodlines needed. Wonder what activity they are supporting."

I know what you mean about the males and the erections, those poor poor dogs! And what did they call it: breeding machines! or something like that! I hope she pays BIG TIME!!!!

And about the teens that taught the dog to bite Black people! I can't say what i think about that, it would be too vulgar!!!

Two of my Grandchildren are half black and half white, so you can imagine how that makes me feel....

Like I said before....God help us!!!

As for her allowing her 15year old dog fall pregnant aswell she is a disgrace i am furious my blood started to boil when i read that article.
