And should you invest in one if you are thinking of breeding? Thanks IP: Logged |

That would look like a long haired chihuahua. A pom without a double coat is not a pom. And a person even contemplating breeding a dog like that should not be breeding. And if you just plain like the dog and want it as a pet...I sure hope the price is somewhere below 100 dollars because you will most likely be disappointed when it grows up if you wanted the dog to look like a pomeranian. Are you sure its that and not just in its "ugly" phase? All poms look rather ugly from roughly 4 months old to 10 months old. And I mean ugly in that their coat looks strange and thin. IP: Logged |

nOpe it's not in its ugly stage! But, I see a lot of people on www.puppyfind.com posting their POMS for sale. YOu have to ask if it has a double coat (expecially the newborns)!! I'm not a breeder, however, I was wanting a very nice quality dog. I replied to one guy who wanted 500 for his dog. Said it was AKC. I then replied and asked if it was double coated b/c I had been reading some about this. He told me he didn't think so. That's when I thought...... this can't be a good thing... and would you want to breed one if it's not double coated. Anyway. thanks for the help IP: Logged |

Hiya Marty, I don't know anything about Pomeranians, but I looked on the AKC site and checked out the standard. Below is a link to the page so you can read the whole thing, but this is what it said concerning coat: "Coat To see a photo and read more about the breeds standard: http://www.akc.org/breeds/recbreeds/pomer.cfm IP: Logged |

Well it sounds like he certainly doesnt know much about the dog. Maybe it DOES have a double coat and he just isn't educated about the breed. Go take a look at the dog after looking at what puppies should like on various websites. The pup would probalby do better in your hands since you are making the effort to learn about the breed as opposed to a breeder that doesnt know a poms coat is double coated. IP: Logged |

Good luck! I hope you get what you're wanting. I have mini dachshund/pomeranians, made me think of them. Susan IP: Logged |

Marty Marty marty, the guy did not even know what double coated meant. He has no idea of what you asked him. Don't buy from him. ------------------ IP: Logged |
