Hi! This morning my husband put the dogs out into he back yard, well Freebie found a way through the neighbors fence and out into the front. I had no idea the dogs were out front until I saw Freebie go by the front window. I went out to get him and noticed Casey was also gone, I walked up and down my neighborhood searching for her for about two hours. (Nothing) I was frantic! I know i must have been a site for the neighbors. I was just getting in my truck to go look further "when" there she was, standing on the porch. Thank God! I have no idea where she came from, the little booger! Anyway she's safe at home and the fence is fixed. That Freebie should be called houdini (spelling) Thankfully the puppies (I have two again, one didn't work out with the family) didn't follow thier bad example.

I JUST HATE SCARES LIKE THAT! Susan

Something to brighten the mood a little!

Like I said the one puppy didn't work out with the new owner because her daughter was allergic to his hair. He was only gone two and one half days, (maybe it was three) anyway!

When I brought him back, i set the ctrate down, opened the door and he ran out and beat up his brother. I mean instantly! He didn't hurt him, just the way they play. It cracked me up! he was so funny! I't was like he was saying: why did you get to stay, and I had to go??? take this!!!! I wish you could have seen it. He's happy to be home, hmn..maybe it's fate! my husband would have a stroke! but you never know...Susan

I understand how you feel. I can remember coming home from work one day to find Jasper and Miah both sitting out the front on my verandah, they somehow unlatched the lock on the gate and let themselves out. The gate is now bolted shut and the only way to the front yard is through the house now.

And your not the only one that hates scares like that either.....lol

Oh susan, thank god they are safe and sound! I had that happen once, came home and Wylie was out front. the gate didnt get shut tight. Luckily they are off leash out front a lot so she didn have the urge to bolt.

As for your puppy, are you going to keep it or try to find another home?

My bet is she tells her hubby she is finding it a home but does nothing until he is too attached to the little guy to send him away.

Yeah, I know how you feel. Ranger got back a few months ago, before we discovered the dog whistle. Well, anyhow, he went over to my neighbors (across the street!) to say hi! WEll, the guy is allergic to dogs, so he wouldn't grab his collar, and so I got to chase Ranger a little bit. He then saw the cat on the other side of the street, and he got down in teh grass and everything, when a car came, so the cat ran, and the dog ran after her! He was just behind the car, thank God! At first I was thinking, "You idiots, you didn't even slow down!" Then I realized, if they had, they would've hit him, rather than him be just behind them!
I can't stand stuff like that, now I am Ranger's mother hen (well, I guess I always was, but even more-so now!)

What is it with men and this idea of "normal" anyway?

for scares...how about your 1200 pound horse getting out of her stall and strolling down the road as you pull up???? Not only did she unlatch her own door but the other two horses as well. Her mother was an escape artist too. We now have double latches on her door, one down near the ground so she can't reach it. Both have snaps on them and the horse in the stall next to hers also has to have doubles so she can't undo his for him.

Maisey, love the horse story - last year, my hsuband and I went to gfor our week-end walk well there is this horse in or front yard (if you can call it that since we live in the country. (and I am clueless about horses) I went to a neighbor who had horses for help, she tried catching the horse, but was too skittish. She called the humane society to see if anyone report a missing horse, and they had! duh, I would think to call the humane society for a found horse. It had wandered almost 2 miles from home

Maisey what a smart girl you have! reminds me of Mr. Ed, showing my age here! heheheh

I grew up riding horses, it was the best childhood, kept me out of alot of trouble. (but not completely) I'll never forget once "many years ago" while riding a buckskin bareback, he got spooked and I knew I was about to go flying, and my only choices were a tomato feild (you know with all the sticks) or a bunch of old telephone poles laying on the ground. I chose the poles! my uncle had to come pick me up in the truck because I was banged up pretty badly. But of coarse that didn't stop me from riding again the next week. Your story made me think of that! don't know why!!! anyway how fun for your kids to get to ride! Susan
