My female labrador's 61st day is January 31st. Her nipples are enlarged but she has not gotten any bigger. No weight gain at all. We did not see her tie together with the male. She is also "nesting", digging at my couch. Do you think this is a false pregnancy? and if so is this something that will continue happening? I read that if you have a dog that has false pregnancies that you should spay her. Is that correct? When will she go back into heat after this false pregnancy? She is 4 years old and she had 2 litters with another owner. This would have her first litter with me. I have had many litters with other females and they were huge around this time in the cycle. Body size in bitches when pregnant varies from bitch to bitch and depends on the size of the litter. If your unsure that she is pregnant a quick trip to a vet for an ultra sound will set your mind at ease. False pregnancies usally only last for 41-44days and all or some of the signs that come along with true pregnancy can be seen. I wuld have her checked as false pregnancies can cause problems especially if she is producing milk. Just because she has had a phantom pregnancy does not mean she has to be spayed as this usually only occurs after the next heat cycle. Depending on your dog as to how many times a year they come in heat, like mine are yearly so around the same time every year my bitches come into heat, mitzy one of my bitches is every 6months she has a heat cycle so depends on the bitch . mike.
