I would ask your vet about your concerns, maybe seek the advice of a holistic vet as well and get a more rounded opinion before you decide. There are factors like where you live that should be thought about too. IP: Logged |

Thanks for answering me. Unfortunately I do not have a Holistic vet within 50 miles of us. We live just moved to Wisconsin. I am afraid it is the law to get the rabies but not sure about the others. I changed her food from Sciene Diet to Eagle Pack Holistic Select. Her coat looks better already and it has only been a couple of weeks. IP: Logged |

I would talk to your vet or another vet about getting an exemption (because she has seizures) or a titre test for rabies instead. At 12 years old a dog should not need any more shots!!! Especially a dog that has seizures. Shots could cause the seizures to worsen. I believe that unless a dog is 100% healthy a vaccine should not be given. Jas IP: Logged |

I went to the vet here thinking a titer test took care of all of the shots. Well, I was shocked afterwards to find she only did a titer for parvo at $45.00. She has only had one seisure and we do not know the cause. I asked the vet to do a complete thyroid test and she couldn't do the T3 or T Free so it is still unclear according to Dr. Dodds web site. This vet also says it is the law to get the rabies. IP: Logged |

I would call another vet and ask about a titre for rabies and how much it would cost. Then I would call the city and ask if a titre is acceptable if the dog cannot get the shot for medical reasons. Let us know what you find out!
