My 7 1/2 month old daschund is eating everything. He chews on my carpets and has ripped up my kitchen floor. Constantly goes after plants or whatever he can get a hold off. Bitter Apple has become my best friend but this only lasts for as long as it lasts. If I dont respray it, he goes after the carpet and floor again. I have gotten him kongs, rawhides, hooves and toys and even though he plays with these. When he is tired of them he goes after the other things that I mentioned above. Does anyone have any suggestions? I am at my wits end.

How about helping him burn that excess energy? Maybe take him for a long walk or play tag with him in the house. If you really tire him out he will be less likely to get into things he is not supposed to get into. Just a thought.

Hi My mini doxie does the same thing. She's two now and knows whats allowed, Thank Goodness. What I did was, gave her a knit blanket of her own. Her favorite game is to put a ball under it and chew away. I've had to replace that blanket four times in two years, but it's worth it. Not a large blanket, more like a throw. Hope it works for you too. Does your doxie like to burro? mine loves to get under everything! That's another good thing about the throw...Good luck! Susan

he he he...sorry thats not funny, but I think just about every new puppy owner goes through this.

I would suggest the same as Nern. Wear him out by playing with him with ONLY his toys.

I also had luck by taking an old worn out sock and tying a knot in it and playign with that. Their favorite games were to tug a war with it and to hide it and go find it.

Good luck. I'm sure he'll out grow it.

Hi again, Whatever works for you is best!!! There is nothing wrong with giving a dog her or his own blanket. It can't hurt them, and if they enjoy it, GREAT!!! keeps mine happy, that's why I suggested it...Good luck to you! Susan
