Here it is daphne. Heres the parvo tea recipe from amber technology: 1 cup of Pedialyte If the dog weighs less than 4 lbs use only echinacca w/o goldenseal. Heat the pedialyte but make sure it doesn't boil.Add tea bags and let it heat for a little while. Then add the rest of the ingredients. Using this on a dog with parvo doesn't mean he will live for sure. It's just a tea recipe for people who ordered Parvaid to help the dog live until the Parvaid medicine arrives. IP: Logged |

thanks, will this hurt my baby if he doesn't really have parvo? i took him to the vet and the test was neggative, but now he has all the signs of it, and this is the 2nd foster dog i have had to contract it, how so you order parvaid? do you get it through the vet? or through the net? does it work? I don't know those answers daphne, I'm sorry...I've never had a dog with parvo. I'm in the chat room if you want to talk, I don't mind sitting with you a while. IP: Logged |

I don't see anything in those ingredieants that would hurt the pup if he doesn't have parvo. Echinacea/goldenseal is an herbal remedy that helps to boost the immune system and ward off respiratory infections. Pedialyte replenishes elctrolytes, which is always a good thing. I don't know what the tea does, but it's tea. And the garlic is also an antibacterial-type thing. People used it before they knew about penicillin. Daphne, if you had aother foster with parvo, did you treat your house afterwards? Parvo lives on for a VERY long time on surfaces - like I heard 9 years in dirt. So you need to disinfect your house, following a strict regimen that I don't know but I'm sure you can find with some research. I hope your little one is doing better. Keep us posted!

Actually garlic can be toxic to pets. Here's a list of human foods that can be toxic to animals and their effects. I'm sure the extreme doesn't happen in every animal but if you know there's a chance of your dog getting ill from it, why take a chance? http://www.petalia.com.au/Templates/StoryTemplate_Process.cfm?specie=Dogs&story_no=257#ct-4 IP: Logged |

If you had a pup with parvo you shouldnt foster any more puppies until they have completed their very last set of shots. Parvo can live in your house for up to 9 mos to 3 years. It can live in your soil for up to 9. So just be very careful about bringing in young pups. Maybe you should try a few older dogs to give your home time to rid of the virus. IP: Logged |

I think Garlic has to be given in larger doses to cause any problems...many dog products contain Garlic. IP: Logged |

True however there are tons of recipies for home made dog food and treats that include garlic as well as supplements for flea prevention. It can all add up. Personally if my dog is already sick I'm not going to want to give it something that has the potential to make it feel worse, even if it's not deadly. The main concern with parvo is the dog dehydrating because of diarrhea and vomiting so leaving the garlic out won't hurt. IP: Logged |

Use garlic powder. It is harmful to dogs if it is unrendered, unaged, unprocessed garlic. Garlic powder wont hurt whatsoever. It actually attracts them to their food or water. Garlic powder is fabulous when you have a medical emergency. Maybe not for everyday use (although many use it in holistic care every day with out a problem) IP: Logged |

Question. With the "tea", what amount and how often? 3# Chihuahua. Also, comments on the pediolite enema. I'm in the process of getting some Parvaid. "Squeaky" seems to be loosing fluid rapidly. Vomiting about 1 hour or more apart. Vet will see her in AM but she needs help now. We lost a Chi-Poo Monday AM to parvo. IP: Logged |
