The Vet called late last night and said that our Cloie had passed my daughter is heartbroken I am determined to get her a healthy dog but now I need to be sure it has been vacinated for Parvo before I can bring it here I know that bleach water kills the virus but I can't use it everywhere that Cloie was like when she was curled up on my daughters stuffed animals just a couple of days before we saw she was sick Parvo is such a cruel virus thank you to every one who prayed for us. I'm so sorry! Make sure you talk with your vet before bringing another puppy into your house. You may be better off with an older pup that has had more chance to build up their immune system. Please seek the advice of a professional.

Hi Juanena, I'm sorry your puppy passed away. Parvo's a r e a l l y terrible virus. I agree w/ Jamiya in that you should probably get advice from professionals, and the possible choice of an older/more mature pup. I've read in a book of congenital defects in breeds that actually the Jack Russell terrier is a pretty hearty dog. With only like one handfull of concerns. It's kinda sad but true that a lot (almost all) of other breeds have way m o r e than you would like to know. For instance the Boxer, Pug, Chinese Shar Pei, & the notorious English Bulldog. It's worth the money to pay for a dog that has a pedigree proven free of congenital defects for at least a decade. IP: Logged |

Thank you so much for your prayers and advice the puppy was my daughters and she had waited so long for a puppy she asked God why and she even feels maybe he is trying to prepare her for a bigger loss because that was the 3rd pup she tried to get the first 2 were sold just before she got there and then this we only had her for 8 days but she had such promise and personality and was already aware that she was to potty outside was a vwery smart pup. Thank you again I am very glad I found this sight everyone here is so caring we did get some pics of her and I hope to post one here soon. IP: Logged |

Juanena, So sorry for the loss of your puppy. It is heartbreaking to lose an animal. Parvo is such a scary virus. This is not what you are going to want to hear but I wouldn't advise getting another puppy at this time. Parvo can live in an area for a long long time and you need to fully bleach & clean *every* area of your home. It is risky to bring another puppy home right away and I'm sure your family would be devastated to go through what you just went through again. Even if the puppy has been vaccinated parvo still poses a risk. The vaccine isn't a guarantee and many many puppies still contract parvo despite being "adequately" vaccinated. Personally I would wait at least a year before getting another young puppy. Some experts will say wait 6 months - a year or longer. And getting a puppy from a shelter or a reputable breeder doesn't make a difference as far a parvo is concerned because a young pup is still more susceptible to contracting the virus if exposed. It would be smarter to bleach as you had planned and look into getting a dog who is say over a year old. By this age most dogs will have built up and immunity and altogether have a stronger immunity, enabling them to ward off viruses. It's just not worth the risk! good luck to you! IP: Logged |
