I've been having this reoccurring issue with my 7 year old black lab mix. Whenever no one is around he urinates, usually on upright objects(couches, tv stand, speakers, doors, etc.). When we try to discipline him or show him the object he just growls and walks away. He's extremely territorial. Even when he goes outside, he'll usually urinate on car tires or against the house. The outside thing isn't as much a concern as the fact that he has ruined the hardwood floors in two rooms over the last two years. He also urinates on any clothes if they're lying around. I've tried sprays, to no avail. He's not neutered and I was told not to get it done at this age. Even the temper(distemperment shots have not worked) isn't as much of an issue as the urine all over my house. The local vets are no help, nor are any pet stores. Any advise would be appreciated. I'm at wits end.

The only thing that will probably work is getting him neutered as it will help curb this territorial behavior to an extent. But at this age, with the risks of surgery and with his behavior set in for all of these years, the only other thing I can suggest is crate him more, especially if he is unsupervised while in your house as much as your post suggests. Good luck to you!

Other than neutering Im not sure how you can curb this behavior but there are "belly bands" for male dogs that you can use to prevent him from marking all over the house...kinda like a doggy diaper but made specifically for male dogs.
Good luck.
