well, brutus and i went to the vet again today, they re-scheduled it for today. the parvo test was neggative again (thank you God!!!) But they are keeping him, he is hooked up to an IV, and we don't know what his outcome is yet. the vet said that if he is in the condition he is in and still alive, he has a heck of a lot of will to live. He can stand up and walk, but he has had bloody diarrhea, mild vomiting, loss of apetite, everything. but the parvo test is neggative. It could be corona, but i don't know much about it. I went in today, a nervous wreck. I had to leave the room SEVERAL times to cry. but i love my vet. No matter how bad it is, he always knows how to make you smile. His wife is a partner in the office, and she is also a vet, and she is the exact opposite. she is very business like, but also knows how to make you cry with sweet things like "as much as you love this dog; i know he/she has been a wonderful friend" just stuff like that, that seems silly to make you cry unless your dogs life is at question, and you think back to all the good times. Luckily, i got her husband today, so the tears didn't flow so easily today. IP: Logged |

You werent babbling at all! You posts are so wonderful to read and so full of love for your animal. It brought tears to my eyes to read about Brutus and being hooked up teh the IV. How often will they call you to update? I am saying silent prayers for him to recover fully and quickly and my heart just goes out to right now. Please keep us closely updated on your dear Brutus. He is loved here! IP: Logged |

actually, i don't think we will get any news until monday, but after that, we get 2 calls a day. With the last foster dog i had that was sick, i called 3 times a day, worried out of my mind, so they are probably prepared for another river of phone calls now, and at least 2 visits a day. Brutus needs his snuggling pillow i made for him, i forgot it today i sewed two little pillows for him, one that is like a doughnut, so he can snuggle in the middle of it (thats his absolute favorite!) and another one that is kinda like a huge banana, and it has a zipper (it took me forever) to put a warm water bottle in it for at night. I always try and make each foster dog i have something special to take to his/her new home. But i made these in much more detail because i know he is going to keep his name (my cousin is taking him, he just moved out of the house and it wanting a snuggly puppy to help add to the warmth of his home) lol, i eved stitched his name in bright gold on the doughnut one! lol i guess thats why its his favorite one, he KNOWS its his lol. Thanks for the prayers annie, God knows he needs them now, especially without his mommy to take care of him tonight! IP: Logged |

Hi Daphne, I'm glad he got to the vet and that he is still fighting. I've spent plenty of time in a vets office crying and trying to hold it together, I know how that feels. So sorry Brutus is having such a rough time of it, but you are doing all the right things for him. I found this link for you on Coronavirus, it does sound like what you described his symptoms to be. http://www.workingdogs.com/vccorona.htm IP: Logged |

Just because the Parvo tests are negative doesn't mean he doesn't have it. Not to scare you but to update you that Parvo has an incubation period of 10-12 days and then the worst can occur. They will get the bloody stool, vomiting, and lathargic. Hopefully its not that, and he's just got a tummy ache. I wish you the best, but ask your vet if he isn't in the incubation period. Soemtimes it won't show up until its too late! IP: Logged |
