I have an 8 year old male American Eskimo who's been with me from the start. He is a very sweet dog...to me. When he was little he had problems with his hindquarters, and we had to put medicine there. Ever since then, every time he gets excited, upset, or just for whatever reason, he will growl and snarl and run around chasing his tail in a circle. It is not for play or fun, he is very angry for whatever reason, and somewhat frightening. I nor anyone else can come close to touching him there, or his tail, or his hind legs without this happening. In fact, when petting him, you have to stop midway down his back or suffer the consequences. I'm really bothered that nothing I've tried seems to stop him or distract him and would be open to any suggestions. Thanks in advance, Aubrey.

I'm thinking he may have some discomfort back there, either arthritis or spinal problem or it is something neurological. Has the vet taken a look at him?
