Nutro senior has glucosamine in it that helped my oldest. Also there is a powder supplement called Nupro joint support which works well too which is easier then giving a pill. You just put over there food. There is also glucosamine pills you can give but let me check on that. There are many out there that dont have much of the needed vitamins in it. Ill have to look in the morning and see which brands are good. IP: Logged |

A combination of Chrondroitin, Glucosamine and MSM is a good thing as Martha Stewart would say. You need to find out how much of each is a correct dose for your dog, many times they are mixed in the same product, but the amounts are not high enough of one or all three, so checking labels is important as always. I have found that buying Glucosamine and Chrondroitin together and the MSM separate is much more cost efficient. You may not have to actually visit your vet, you could just call and ask about dosing. I know my vet would tell me over the phone. For that matter, you could probably get the info on line. I have used capsules and just opened them into food and mixed, but I prefer a powder thats premixed as RottyMommy said. Wait and see what she posts for brands/products...I am just not remembering the product I used. Research online too..there is alot of info out there. IP: Logged |

I have my poodle on Seatecs Phyto-greens supplement powder, Senior Healthy joint formula it works well and is less expensive. It is like a molitive (sp) cocktail of goodness. Has many things in it. Check out one of your better pet supply stores or look for it online. Hope nobody thinks I'm advertising. If this was the Maltese only forum, my message would not be posted as they would think i am advertising for the company. But just trying to be helpful. Thats what this place is for right. I am sorry to hear the news regarding your beloved dog! I know how hard it is, to see a beloved dog in pain!! Wishing you and your beloved dog the best and hoping you can find relief for your beloved dog soon. Here is an article on Canine Arthritis. It discusses it's causes, treatment options, etc., http://www.marvistavet.com/html/arthritis___joint_disease_cent.html You might want to discuss Dermamaxx and Durlactin with your Vet. Both are new medications geared for dogs with recurring pain. IP: Logged |
