Hi Dogged, it really comes down to the individual dog and the severity of the persons allergies. It also depends on what the person is allergic too because fur, dander & saliva all trigger allergies. Allergies aren't so much related to certain breeds but will be dog or even litter specific of any breed. So you might be allergic to one golden retriever but not another. It is a myth that poodles are a non allergic breed that doesnt shed fur or dander, but because poodle fur is curly it gets bound together moreso than golden retrievers fur, so very curly haired breeds may be less irritating for some people. The best thing to do is narrow down what breeds appeal to you and visit breeders (and) or shelters and spend time with and individual dog. IP: Logged |

Go to www.akc.com and you will find a list of dogs that 'generally' are good for allergy suffers. You have to type 'breeds for allergy suffers' play around with those words you will find it. There will be a list of dogs and you can click on those and get your information and pictures of the dogs that will help you choose the one that you like the best. The dogs here generally shed less and have less dander. Still with any dog, if you have bad allergies, you should be careful not to let the dog lick you on your face much, because saliva can cause allergies to flare. Good luck, I have a malte poo and he hasnt given me any problems with my allergies. IP: Logged |
