I have a shit tzu and she is 6 months old. My sister got a half sister to her (same dad) and I just loved her, the long fluffy fur ect. So we got one out of the next litter but she has a different mom. Keri was fluffy when we got her but just not the same. Now at 6 months she lost all her baby fluff and doesn't look the same as my sisters she has short hair only long on her tail and ears. I spoke to the breeder she said her mom was the same but after a year it got long. Is this common? Please help Jacklyn IP: Logged |

I had the same problem. The hair was full and looked great while he was a puppy, as he got older it feel out and was short and after "a year or so" he started to look a little more like he did when we first got him. As you know with anything, your dog will never look just like it did before. It may or may not get the hair back but that's not the reason you love it. Enjoy your little friend and good luck. I have a super tiny shih-tzu that is only 6lbs at 2 years! In the first place the smaller "runts" or those not up to standard acceptable AKC weight I was told ALMOST NEVER have the coats of the standard sized ones!! I did take mine to the vet when she once almost became bald LOL.....honestly thought that it might have been mange or something. NO! The vet said that it was her hormones and put her on hormone therapy. She is now simply gorgeous!! IP: Logged |
