My new 3 yr old female Boxer has, on 3 occasions, stopped in her tracks and started to breath with long deep wheezing noises. Like hyprventilating. She can not move until it stops and it has lasted about a minute. Is this normal or something to worry about? I live in a desert environment. Thanks IP: Logged |

You should take her to the vets to have her checked out. It could be any number of things, but without seeing her, no one will be able to tell you what it is for sure. IP: Logged |

Snub-nosed animals like Persians, Boxers, Bulldogs, and Pugs, are known for breathing problems due to stenotic nares....narrow nostrils, or be it inside deformity, obstruction, narrowing....take dog to a vet, and see about a referral to a specialist who can then check the pooch and tell you what is what. Best wishes. IP: Logged |

This sort of thing happens often with small breeds. Its the trachea I believe that partialy collapses. Then goes back to normal. It happens with both of my dogs. Not often but it does. In some instances the trachea totally collapses and the dog would need surgery to save its life. Do a search on trachea problems. I bet that is what it is. IP: Logged |
