I have just bought an 11week old Bishon Frise who has a great nature, but is very clingy. Can I have other dog owners opinions on whether or not to keep her in the kitchen at night or in the bedroom beside me. The past two nights she has cried a lot and scratched at the door. IP: Logged |

Whatever you're comfortable with, and that has LINOLEUM or easy-clean-up floor, and I'm SURE others would agree!! LOL!! But I had mine as pups in the bathroom cause it was located where I could see them better, smaller, less intrusive, centrally located for me. While a pup getting toilet-trained, I would opt for no rug, or bedroom location. Just my 2 cents. If in kitchen, you may find yourself eating dog hairs that fly about with a ceiling fan or open window. Or pup gets in the way while cooking, a dangerous situation for both of you. Whatever you choose, best wishes! IP: Logged |

Hi Lindsay. Just a little note from personal experience: When I first moved here *Central Tx* to go to college, I lived in a small apartment with what seemed like paper walls. I aquired a dog, but had not paid the pet deposit! Shhh! I let the puppy sleep with me so that he would not be screaming and crying the night away. HE GOT TO THINKING THE BED WAS HIS! I have told this story to friends and family, and some have affirmed that, when they allowed a dog to sleep in their bed, the dog usually ends up assuming that it's his place to be. If you dont mind your dog, at full size, sleeping with you, let the baby rest in peace! IP: Logged |

I myself put my pups in a crate. teaches them not to go to the potty where they sleep and also starts to train them to a crate so if you go anywhere and stay in a hotel. My adult dogs now just walk into there crate cuz they know its a traveling carrier/sleeping area when we go somewhere. They cry at first but if you put some toys and a blanket or towel they will learn quick. Food for thought!!! ~Magick Moon American Bulldog~ IP: Logged |
