I am a published freelance writer from Southern Maine whose most recent articles - "They Want You!" and "The Test That Could Save a Dog's Life" will be appearing in upcoming issues of Bird Times and Dog & Kennel magazines. I am currently working on a possible article about dog daycare. I am looking for a few succinct, informative quotes from dog owners who use day care for the piece. Any information you could provide would be greatly appreciated. Just be sure to include your full name and location (city and state or just state is fine - no addresses, please!) when answering the following questions, so I can credit you properly if I use your response. (Just copy and paste the questions with your answers into your e-mail to my address below.) 1. What is your dog’s name? Age? Breed? 2. How long have you had your dog in daycare? How many days a week does your dog go to daycare? 3. Why did you decide to put your dog in daycare? 4. Please describe your average day in terms of dropping off and picking up your pet. 5. What factors do you think are most important in selecting a daycare? 6. Would you recommend daycare to other dog owners? Why or why not? 7. Is there anything else that you would like people to know about dog daycare? Thanks for input. I look forward to reading your responses! Tammy Gagne P.O. I worked in one for a few weeks and quit out of disgust. It is a big business here in my town and if only the owners knew half the nonsense of this one! When special beds or blankets were given to slepp on, they weren't used. They were put up on the shelf and dog slept on moist concrete floor. occasionally, we had some battered towels for the oldies. If they peed, of course, none. No beds. And the food buckets were sometimes just handed to another dog who came in, like on the holidays stay, not washed. Also, if an animal was there for grooming only, they would shuffle the dogs in and out, no washing the floor unless there was excrement or urine of course. This all is a Dept of Agri no-no. And, the inside and outside runs had locks between each that you couldn't undo without much play,as they were put together wrong. Well, what if a fire? And, they would not let people come by surprise to see the pets or in back. The pets, when they were going home, were brought up front to the owners of course, along with any blankets. Spare food or food not given that had been set for a specific dog, was just used for others or thrown out. It was a mess. Yet, they sure advertised it as great, 24 hr security....a girl slept in a trailer in the woods in back, against town ordinance. Great place! IP: Logged |
