OK, I know that this question has been asked before. But, I did not find the topic so I'm asking it again. Please bare with me

Is there any way I can get a close estimate on how much bigger my Precious is going to get? My Vet tells me that she should get to 8 pounds. I think he might be underestimating. She's almost that now. At what age is a toy breed full grown? How much more can I expect her to grow?

I have no experience with toy breeds. My Cocker was full grown when I got her. I've heard that it is different with most breeds and comparing Cockers to ShihTzu/Pekapoos is like comparing apples to oranges.

Any experience, advise, web sites and armature guesses are appreciated!

Here are Precious Stats:
5 months old.
6 1/2 to 7 pounds, depending on the scale
Her Mother: 8 pound Pekapoo
Her Father: 12 pound ShihTzu
She was the smallest of her litter.
She was spayed last week, never went into heat. (I don't know if that makes a difference)
If you have anymore question just let me know.

Precious's Mommy,
Sunday

I've heard that you can guestimate by doubling their weight at 4 months of age for small dogs and 5 months of age for larger dogs.
Do you know how much she weighed at 4 months? If so, I'd be curious to see if it worked out to be double that when she is full grown. Natalie weighed about 20 lbs. at 5 months old and now weighs about 42....so this estimate was very close for her adult weight.

Nern: I've heard the same too. If she takes on the peke genes she may be on the bigger side. Thats my guess.

well looking back on bella's records she was 6 pounds at 4 1/2 months.. when she reached 7 pounds they had were pretty sure at that point that she was done growing..

she's 2 now and weighs 11-12 pounds..

so based on bella i'm going to guess about 12 pounds.. maybe 13..

just a side note..
her mother was a 10 pound shih tzu and her father was a 5 pound toy poodle

Yeah, a Contest!

So far the contestants are:
~Karma, with a guess of 13 pounds
~Dbuzzw, at 11 pounds
~bellasmommy, with a guess of 12 maybe 13 pounds, so we'll call that 12 and a half pounds.

Any more? This is fun! I'll give a prize to the winner!

Thanks for playing!

Precious's Mommy,
Sunday

i would say that she'll only grow for mabye 4 more months at the most, this time is critical for gorwing though, so make sure she's got a good diet.
usually by 9 or 10 months they stop growing and then start to 'fill out' i would think mabye somewhere around 9-11 pounds at a healthy weight

Yahoo! We've got ourselves a real competition going here! OK, here's how things stand:

Our contestants are:
~ PooGirl13, with a guess of 9.5 pounds (right?)
~ Nern, with a simply stated 10 pounds
~ Dbuzzw, excited to be playing and coming in at 11 pounds
~ MonsterBailey, staking her claim on a firm and precise 12.2
~ Bellasmommy, with a guess of 12.5 pounds. (?) I don't want to put words in anybodies mouth or post, as the case may be.
~ Karma, coming in with the very first guess of the game of 13 pounds

Puttin510, would you like to make a guess as to if Precious will take on the Peke gene and come in above 13 pounds?

Claire,
Thanks so much for the growth information. You really addressed my curiosity about when she might stop growing. I've spent a lot of money on stuff she's grown out of. So Goofie_newfie, do we have a firm # from you for our little game? (9-11 want to go with an uncliamed 10.5?

I'll keep you ya'all posted as the game developed.

Precious's Mommy,
Sunday

I just thought of something... if she's only 5 months now, we won't get to know the big "WINNER" for 7 months! LOL... this is almost as bad as waiting for a baby to be born and guessing sex/weight, etc.!

Yeah count me in for the weight you said. That sounds about what I was thinking. Can't wait to see who the winner is. Its so hard to guess being she has more than two mixes in her bloodline.
