we are a family with two kids, ages 6 & 10 with a fenced in yard and a mom who works from home. We are trying to find the best breed for our family and have fallen in love with the peek a poo but don't know anyone who had one? We are open to other poodle mixes that would work well with our family. We are an active family and we have a cat. any feedback would be great. Thanks.

Take a look at Jack. He is a maltipoo, He is great with the kids and a very hardy little fellow!

Hello cathicm:
There is a number of other threads out there with our opinions on the shihpoo and some other poo mixes. Check out the one titled "what about shihpoos" that "Sally" started or the "why isn't anybody answering me" by Sally also. There is lots of advice (including mine on shihpoos). There is also a thread on someone who has a pekeapoo that has been aggressive.... just take a gander around and if you have more questions directly on shihpoos, just holler

Welcome Cathicm! Sounds like we have a few things in common.

I love my ShihTz'Pekapoo (Precious)! She gets along great with everyone. I must admit, she likes the cat more then the cat likes her, but that is to be expected. She is incredibly smart. I have not had any trouble with aggressive behavior. We are also a very active family so her size is very convenient for traveling with us. Her friendly outgoing nature is also a strong plus.

If you are not doing so already, might I suggest that you get the kids educated about raising a puppy before you even bring a new addition home. There are several books on this topic. I especially liked "Puppy Raising & Training Diary for Dummies" It educates in the most basic of terms and in a way that children can understand. I think this has helped quit a bite. For instance, if Precious get a little rough, my kids know to let out a loud "YELP!", and pull away from her. I believe that, as a result, we don't have a biting problem. Educating and getting the kids involved has helped so much, not only in Precious's training and establishing consistent habits but in her general care as well.

As stated by MonsterBailey, you might find all the answers your looking for in topics Sally's posted earlier. Good luck in your quest! Let us know how the search is going.

Precious's Mommy,
Sunday

I love my Peke-A-Poo. her temperment is perfect she's not too hyper but not to docile. She's very bright and easy to train. She's the perfect size. Honestly I will always have a pekeapoo. I'm sold on them I have a yorkie as well and I loce him dearly too but he's sooo soo hyper at times.
